Why Your Instagram Bio Could Be Turning People Away

Your Instagram bio is small—but it packs a punch. It’s the first thing someone sees when they land on your profile, and in a few seconds, they’ll decide whether to follow you, visit your website, or leave. That’s why it’s so important to get it right.

Too many brands use this space for generic taglines or vague descriptions like “Helping you live your best life” or “Innovative solutions for modern business.” These phrases don’t actually say what you do or who you help—and worse, they’re forgettable.

Instead, your bio should clearly answer three things:

1. Who you help

2. What you help them do

3. How they can take the next step

Here’s a quick fix:

Before: “Empowering growth through digital strategy 🌐”

After: “Helping small biz owners grow with content that converts 👇 Grab your free strategy call”

The second one is specific, actionable, and designed to guide people toward your offer.

So take a minute to audit your bio.

Does it tell people what you do in plain language? Does it invite them to take action? If not, it might be time for a refresh.
